Give your views on new cycling and walking plans
We are asking the business community to respond to two important travel consultations currently under way in the borough. Share these with your colleagues to shape future cycling and walking routes we invest in.
Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)
Walking and cycling are ideal modes of transport for business commuting, where this is practical.
Our aim is to improve the active travel provision within our borough supporting central Government’s ambition to make walking, wheeling and cycling the natural choices for journeys, short or long.
The LCWIP is a strategic document which analyses local travel patterns to help identify where best to invest in cycling and walking infrastructure ideally over the next 10 years.
View the plans and respond using the button below by 19 August.
Woodley Town Centre to Reading (Palmer Park) Active Travel Route
The scheme is funded through the Government’s Active Travel Fund Tranche 2 and 3.
It has been identified as a strategic connection in our emerging Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, enabling direct access to Woodley town centre whilst connecting a number of schools and leisure facilities.
Respond using the button below and view the plans in more detail. Responses must be completed by 19 August.
Low carbon workplace grant helps local business
You can apply for a low carbon workspaces grant and help upgrade energy systems at your office.
Yes Events on the Ashville Way Industrial Estate in Wokingham were recently successful in their application for a Low Carbon Workspaces grant. It helped improve their heating and cooling systems.
The business received £5,000 and were featured recently in promotion for the scheme. It has helped them save more than £2,500 on energy bills and 4.109 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents, a measure for harmful gases released.
Paul Fisher, from the company, said: "We're always looking at ways to make our operation more energy efficient and lower our impact on the environment.
"The process was straightforward and resulted in, not only a more comfortable working space for staff, but we have reduced our carbon footprint as a company in the process."
The current round of funding takes us up to September 2022. If you want to check eligibility or find out more, email economicdevelopment@wokingham.gov.uk
