Wokingham Borough Connect
Giving child refugees a Chance to Thrive
We’ve recently launched our Chance to Thrive fund to help children and young refugees coming to Wokingham Borough from Ukraine.
The Council has committed to donating £25,000 to the fund and is seeking support from residents and businesses to raise a further £25,000, with current donations standing at more than £17,000.
We'll use the money donated to pay for things like school equipment and technology, sports kit, membership of local clubs or organisations, allowing children and young people arriving to fit in and live as full a life as possible with us.
Live event in Wokingham - Monday 30 May
We would like to invite you to our trading and networking fayre at the Town Hall in Wokingham, from 12 noon to 2.30pm on Monday 30 May.
This live event, with our partners Rebel Business School, will enable local entrepreneurs to practice their sales skills and meet each other face-to-face in the beautiful, historic surrounds of Wokingham’s town hall.
It follows on from a business skills course which ran with the business school in February.
You can meet our local start-ups, see what they have to offer and support them in whichever way you can, as they look to expand and flourish in Berkshire.
If you have any questions or would like to make us aware of any accessibility issues, please contact economicdevelopment@wokingham.gov.uk.

Be seen locally
We’ve recently been running our “Its Local campaign”, encouraging businesses to register to our online portal so you can be seen by our residents and other businesses in the area.
The service is offered at no cost to users with many businesses registered to date. To help boost activity for local businesses within the area, we will be promoting the site to our residents, encouraging them to buy local.
Make sure you don’t miss this opportunity and register your business today.
Have your say…
We concluded our business survey in April, with more than 250 businesses participating. Our Business Engagement Team are currently working hard to contact all survey respondents directly and see what further support we can offer.
We will shortly be publishing a snapshot of our findings, so you can see what is happening across the borough. This will be released on Tuesday next week.
We’re still keen to hear from our business community and if you didn’t get a chance to complete the survey, you can still have your say.
Alternatively if you want to have a discussion with the team on anything business related or suggestions for how we can support you better then contact economicdevelopment@wokingham.gov.uk.
