Help us communicate better with you
We’re trying to improve the way we communicate directly with customers.
This includes simplifying the language we use and how we speak when we interact with you, including through webpages, printed materials, strategies, complaints responses and other communication.
We’ve got two letters we’d like you to look at and tell us what you think of them. We’ll use your feedback to improve how we write to you.
Opening date for country park paddling pool
California Country Park boasts an award-winning play area with features including a sensory garden with water play for younger children, a "wild wood" with climbing obstacles based in a series of tree houses plus swings, hammocks and a trampoline.
The park in Finchampstead opens daily and offers scenic walks, wildlife watching, fishing and more, with a hard surfaced footpath around Longmoor Lake plus other trails.
Its paddling pool will reopen for the summer on 16 July and entry must be booked online in advance.
Tickets for a one hour and 45 minutes session are £2.60 for anyone entering the water and £1 for adults supervising children from the poolside. Full terms are on the website.
Free compost for community groups
Our partner re3 is offering up to 5,000 (40 litre) bags of compost, free of charge, to local community groups. The offer is part of the work done through the waste management partnership between us and the councils in Bracknell Forest and Reading, as well as the contractor FCC Environment.
Community groups can apply by visiting the re3 website. Applications will be reviewed and assessed by re3 at the end of May, June and July and groups will be contacted to let them know if they have been successful.
Re3’s compost is currently on sale for £4 per 40 litre bag at the household waste and recycling centres in Bracknell and Reading. It is high-quality, peat-free and made from recycled garden waste.
Graduates support local charities
We’re here to serve our community and work closely with many organisations across the borough, including the voluntary and community sector, to provide support and guidance to residents.
Recently, two colleagues from our graduate scheme were placed on short-term secondments with local charities First Days and The Cowshed.
We’ve had some great feedback on the support they’ve given to the charities and our local community.
If you want to find out more about the support available to residents in the borough, please visit our Local Support Hub.
Jubilee celebration road closures
People across the borough are getting ready to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, with almost 100 roads closed for street parties across the four days for the long bank holiday weekend (2 to 5 June).
We have now published a list of road closures for street parties on our Platinum Jubilee hub, where you can see an interactive map of closures across the borough as well as a list showing closures by area.
Although roads will be closed, access will be maintained at all times for residents and businesses.
