Wokingham Borough Connect
Live event in Wokingham - Monday 30 May
We're would like to invite you to our trading and networking fayre at the town hall in Wokingham, from 12 noon to 2.30pm on 30 May.
This live event, with our partners The Rebel Business School, will enable local entrepreneurs to practice their sales skills and meet each other face-to-face in the beautiful, historic surrounds of Wokingham’s town hall.
It follows a business skills course which the ran with the business school in February, aiming to boost key skills in areas such as sales, marketing, tax and legal for those who took part
We invite you, our residents, partners and fellow business supporters, to meet our local start-ups, see what they have to offer and support them in whichever way you can, as they look to expand and flourish in Berkshire.
Get involved and see what these new and growing businesses have to offer! If you have any questions or would like to make us aware of any accessibility issues, please contact economicdevelopment@wokingham.gov.uk
New business support website
Berkshire Growth Hub (recently rebranded from Berkshire Thames Valley Growth Hub) has launched a new business support website, dedicated to supporting small and medium sized businesses across the borough.
If you are looking for support and advice then the Growth Hub has advisors you can access. The service is fully funded by the Government, meaning you don’t have to pay to receive support.
To access support you will need to visit the website, create a profile and then request a call back and wait for an advisor to be in contact. The new growth hub website also has a wealth of information and guidance for running your business.
Help to Grow Digital
The Government has released a funding scheme aimed at helping businesses choose, buy and adopt digital technologies to help with growth.
The Help to Grow: Digital scheme offers your business:
-
Free, impartial advice and guidance about which digital technology is best suited to your business and how it can boost your performance
-
Targeted financial support, if your business is eligible, worth up to £5,000 towards the costs of buying approved digital technologies
To be eligible for the scheme and access the funding you need to have been trading for at least 12 months and have a minimum of five employees.

Getting to work on the roads in Wokingham
The Government is encouraging more workers to return to the office.
In a perfect world, we would all use sustainable transport options such as those promoted by our MyJourney team. They provide information and advice on sustainable travel, on the My Journey website.
The road network across the borough has seen significant investment in road building where green travel, like walking or cycling, is encouraged.
As the roads become busier, the need to stay in touch with road conditions is important. You can view both road closures and road works on the interactive map and sign up for email alerts and a dedicated traffic and travel e-bulletin - this can be found on the council's roadworks webpages.
