Covid-19 vaccines still available
The Covid-19 vaccine programme is still running – if you’re yet to have your first, second, or booster dose, you can book an appointment through the National Booking Service or by calling 119. You can also find your nearest walk-in vaccination centre online.
There is a dedicated Covid-19 vaccine centre at Wokingham Library (Denmark Street, Wokingham, RG40 2BB) – it is accepting appointments and walk-ins.
Vaccine availability varies by day. This weekend, the site is open:
- Friday 6 May (9.30am-4.30pm) - Spring boosters for over 75s and immunosuppressed people, and first, second and booster doses for over 18s (Moderna)
- Saturday 7 May (9.30am-4.30pm) - First and second doses for 12-17 year olds, second doses for 18-74 year olds and booster doses for 16-17 year olds (Pfizer)
- Sunday 8 May (10.30am-4.30pm) - First doses for 5-11 year olds (Pfizer)
Please bring your NHS number if you have it (though you can still get vaccinated without one) and a face covering.
Council Tax rebates for properties in bands A-D
If your property is in Council Tax band A, B, C or D you will qualify for the £150 energy bill rebate. This is an initiative put in place by Central Government to support with rising energy costs.
For occupied households within bands A to D who were Direct Debit payers as of 1 April 2022, the £150 household payments have now been made. For those that have signed up for Direct Debit since 1 April 2022, payments will be made throughout May.
We will be contacting residents who don’t pay through Direct Debit with details on how to apply for the rebate – these payments will be made by the end of May.
Help for households in bands E to H will also be made available at a later date. Once we have more information about this, we will publish the details on our Council Tax rebate web page.
Keep going with best practice
Yesterday was world Hand Hygiene Day. Washing your hands regularly with soap and warm water can help to fight off any nasty bacteria or viruses like Covid-19. You can also protect yourself, your family and your community by:
- Getting vaccinated to reduce your risk of becoming seriously ill, or developing Long Covid
- Staying home and avoiding close contact with others if you feel unwell or have flu-like / Covid-19 symptoms and a high temperature
- Letting in fresh air when you are meeting people indoors
- Wearing a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces
More information on living safely with Covid-19 is available on the Gov.uk website.
