Met Office upgrades weather warning to red
Storm Eunice is causing significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds.
The Met Office has a red weather warning in place across the south from 10am to 3pm today (Friday Feb 18) due to extremely strong winds. High winds are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
A red warning means we should expect: flying debris resulting in danger to life, damage to buildings and homes, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down, roads, bridges and railway lines closed, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights and power cuts affecting other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
 Local closures
To protect our residents and staff, our libraries, community centres, leisure centres, children centres and Wokingham Youth Centre are all closed today.
We are also asking residents to avoid parks and woodlands. The cafes at Dinton and California Country Parks will be closed.
Schools will have contacted parents directly on school closures.
The recycling centres are closed. Rubbish collections are continuing, but please take in your green recycling bags and food waste containers as soon after collection as possible.
The Covid-19 vaccine centre at Wokingham Library and all lateral flow testing centres in the borough are closed today.
