Upcycle your old black recycling boxes
We’ve been inspired by some of our residents' efforts in finding a use for their old black boxes now they have waterproof recycling bags for their waste collections.
These pictures have been sent in by some of our residents in Earley, who are using them for growing herbs, peas, potatoes, runners beans and various flowers in their gardens.
If you’re doing something interesting to repurpose your black boxes email us your pictures and we’ll share your ideas with others.
Practical uses include garden/shed/loft storage and keeping them in the boot of your car to take glass to the bottle bank. If you can’t find a use for them feel free to donate them to a neighbour who wants them or we’ll be announcing details on a collection of unwanted boxes later in the year.
Getting extra waterproof recycling bags
The Earley Town Council office has been added to the list of locations where you can collect up to an additional two waterproof recycling bags.
You’re able to collect from the Help Shop on Radstock Lane (RG6 5UL), Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.
Up to two additional waterproof bags are available for collection per household. You can check what goes in the bags and why the change was made on our website.
A full list of locations and timings for collecting extra bags can be found on our collect recycling bags webpage.
