The re3 household recycling centres in Bracknell (Longshot Lane) and Reading (Island Road) are re-opening on a limited booking-only basis, next Monday (18 May).
The new online booking system is due to go live on Reading Borough Council's website at 10am this Friday (15th) when you’ll be able to book 30-minute slots between 8am and 6pm, for a rolling seven-day period. This means that additional slots for the following week will be released each day at midnight. So at midnight on 19 May, slots for the 25th will become available.
Your's and the staff's health are our number one priority so please follow the layout, safety and social distancing measures being put in place while you’re there. Staff won’t be able to unload waste from your vehicle, for example.
But remember this is only a limited opening so if you can continue to store waste at home for now, please do.
Please arrive within the slot you have booked and come in the car linked to your booking (identified by your number plate).
You’ll also need to take proof of residency, displayed through closed car windows, showing you live in the Wokingham Borough. Details of the proof you need and what items you can and cannot take to the tip are on re3’s website.
Sadly you will be turned away if you arrive with no booking, outside your booked slot, without your proof of residency, or in a different car from your booking.
If you’re vulnerable, or have Covid-19 symptoms, stay home.
Be the first to get our bins, garden waste, recycling, fly-tipping news and advice by signing up to Rubbish & Recycling on Wokingham Borough Connect.
We’ve also re-opened our country park car parks offering limited spaces at Dinton Pastures and California Country Park, in line with government guidance.
The main Dinton, Activity Centre and Aviation car parks have 200 spaces. But we cannot re-open the overflow car parks at this time because we must ensure visitor numbers remain manageable so you can socially distance and keep safe.
The two main car parks are also open at California Country Park, with 100 spaces. Here also the overflow car parks must stay closed, along with the cafes, toilets and play areas at both sites although day fishing is also starting again at both. In addition, disc golf is re-starting at Dinton for individuals and same family groups.
Cantley Park, Rook’s Nest Woods and Keephatch Meadows car parks have also re-opened. Heathlake’s is currently being resurfaced so will open soon.
Marshals will be at both country parks to help you socially distance. If the car parks are full, they will wave you on. Please don’t park on nearby roads or side streets. Just return at a quieter time.

A huge thank you to all of you who’ve created and dropped off family wellbeing goody bags for Wokingham Borough Community Hub.
If you’d like to get involved now would be perfect with Mental Health Week next week and this year’s theme of ‘kindness.’
As we already have a lot of donations for children, we’re specifically looking for goody bags for our more elderly residents. A goody bag could be the one thing that cheers them up especially if they’ve been self-isolating.
You can drop-off the bags either at St Crispin’s Leisure Centre (Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 4.30pm) or Lower Earley, Twyford or Woodley libraries (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10am to noon). Remember, the libraries are only open for drop-offs, not their usual services.
From fresh groceries, to sweet treats and vitality supplements – lots of local businesses have joined our Home Delivery Directory to help those of you unable to go out at the moment.
You can view the catalogue here and see what goodies could be delivered to your home.
If you’re a business and would like to be included in the directory, just email: cem@wokingham.gov.uk
