Join Helen Phifer, bestselling writer of the hugely popular Detective Morgan Brookes series. As well as the Lucy Harwin, Beth Adams and Maria Miller series of books. Her debut novel, The Ghost House, featuring Annie Graham, went on to be a global bestseller. Helen is W&F Libraries Author Ambassador for The Year of Reading! Helen will be talking about her life and books at this not-to-be-missed event. includes a crime writers exhibition, quiz and refreshments!
W&F Libraries Read Together
Last Friday of each month at 3 pm on Facebook
W&F Libraries Read Together is a new monthly digital book club for the National Year of Reading, and everyone is welcome.Every month, a Book of the Month will be selected from BorrowBox spotlight titles, which are available for simultaneous borrowing of eBook and eAudiobook downloads on BorrowBox. Mays chosen book is Cleopatra by Natasha Solomons. Available in eBook and eAudio now on Borrowbox. Let's read together. Join us on the last Friday of each month at 3 pm on Facebook to chat about the chosen book in the comments!

 Eggcellent Easter @ The Library
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed Easter with us. We had an Eggcellent time over the Easter Holidays at W&F Libraries. With drop In Easter Crafts, all Day Lego Days and Faerie Making Craft with Eden Arts. We also welcomed Wordsworth Trust for drop In Spring Crafts, had a Teddy Bear Sleepover and Teddy Bears Craft.
We shared our favourite children's books for International children's book day and celebrated with the winners of our Read-a-Thon and Toddler Challenge Book Bingo! Well done to everyone who took part and a huge thank you to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction for donating prizes.
 Tom Palmer Children's Reading Event
Thank you to Moorfield Learning Centre for inviting us to their celebration of children's reading. The event welcomed over 200 children from local primary schools to hear from the fantastic author Tom Palmer. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring children together to celebrate the joy of reading and to learn about the writing process. We weer delighted to tell them about what the library has to offer. The children were an absolute credit to their schools.

 Teddy Bear's Sleepover
Thank you to every one who took part in our teddy Bear's sleep over. Barrow Library welcomed a variety of different teddies at the weekend for our Teddy Bear's Sleepover and shared pictures of what they got up to. The teddies enjoyed seeing what our libraries had to offer like colouring in, plenty of books, cosy places to sit and even books about them (we are looking at you Paddington!) Keep an eye out for more Teddy Bear sleepovers in the summer
 Writers Rump Poetry and Prose
Huge thank you to all the performers and audience members who joined us for our latest event with Writer Rump at Kendal Library. We had a great time and a bumper crowd. Writer Rump celebrate the work of local authors and poets. We were treated to wonderful poetry and prose from artists who count award winners and Edinburgh Fringe performers amongst their number! We received some lovely audience feedback,

 Daughters of Blencathra Author Event
A big thank you to everyone who attended our author event at with Alex Pine and doctor Tim Sanders from Penrith Mountain Rescue Team at Penrith Library. Alex discussed his new novel Daughters of Blencathra and the reason for writing the book and Tim talked about real life rescues and the invaluable work the team provides. After Q&A Alex signed copies of his new book. Huge thank you to The Hedgehog Bookshop, for supporting this event. If you didn’t attend and would like a book they have signed copies available.
 Women in Rugby League Exhibition
We are delighted to be able to showcase Women In Rugby League's exhibition at Barrow Library this month. Huge thanks to Mary McPortland for sharing her knowledge and research with us as well as her fantastic memorabilia! Mary is also encouraging people to share their memories of Women's Rugby League in the area. You can do this by visiting Barrow Library and putting your memories in the feedback box after having a look at the exhibition. Why not join us for this fantastic celebration for Local and Community history month this May.
 Green Libraries Book of The Month!
Bothered By Bugs By Emily Gravett

Silent Reading Group @ Penrith Library
Wednesday 6th May @ Penrith Library, 6pm A silent book club is a 'no pressure' book club where people meet to read their current book together in silence.
