Westmorland and Furness Council is proud to be a Match Funding Champion for the Cumbria Community Foundation Winter Warmth Appeal 2025.
Every winter, as many as 500 older people in Cumbria die because they cannot afford to heat their homes and eat properly. The Winter Warmth Appeal gives grants to vulnerable older people who struggle through the colder months.
All donations made by 19 December will be matched £1 for £1 by match funders including the council, so every donation will make double the difference.
If you or someone you know is struggling, you're not alone. Get in touch: www.westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk/winterready
Do you care for someone else’s child? Maybe under a family arrangement, with or without a legal order, or even as a kinship foster carer? If so, you are a kinship carer – and your experience matters.
We are developing our Kinship Care Local Offer, and we want you to help shape it. If you have looked after, or currently look after, a friend or relative’s child, we want to hear from you. This includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, other relatives or family friends who are caring for someone else’s child.
We also want to hear from children, young people, or adults who have been raised by kinship carers and would like to share their experiences to help improve the lives of others.
Join us! There are currently 65 job opportunities available to apply for now.
