It’s going to be warm this weekend which makes our lakes and rivers look more inviting for a swim.
If you are spending time near water, make sure you know what to do if you were to fall in. The advice is not to panic, float on your back and then either call for help or swim to safety.
If you've consumed alcohol, do not enter the water, and avoid walking routes near water.
Never enter the water to try and help a person or animal - always call 999 and use any water rescue equipment if it is available.
If you are spending time near water, whether at home or abroad, make sure you are familiar with local safety information and that children are always fully and actively supervised.

Residents, businesses and visitors are being invited to help shape the future of parking services in Westmorland and Furness.
A ‘Community Conversation’ has been launched by Westmorland and Furness Council to gather people’s thoughts on current services in their area - what they like, what they would like to change and what they’d like to see in the future.
As varying policies and practices were adopted from former county and district councils, residents and visitors' experiences can differ across the area. This can range from the types of pay and display machines in car parks to the types of parking permits that are available.
