There’s just over a week to go in the government’s consultation on a proposal to establish a Mayoral Combined Authority across Cumbria.
The consultation is open to individuals, groups and businesses and anyone wanting to know more before submitting a response is invited to an online session next week with officials from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, who lead on new devolution agreements.
The session, arranged in conjunction with ACTion with Communities in Cumbria, the rural and community development charity, will cover what devolution means, the impact it could have in Cumbria and is an opportunity to put questions direct to officials.
You must book to attend the event on Tuesday 8 April from 7.30pm to 8.30pm and you can submit questions in advance when you book your place.
The consultation closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 13 April. You can access more information here: Cumbria devolution
Maisie is a beautiful and lively 5-year-old girl from Carlisle who is adored by her parents. She has a severe learning disability and a diagnosis of autism, which means she experiences the world differently and needs extra support to feel safe and secure.
Maisie needs foster carers who can offer her Shared Care (overnight, respite care) in their home for two nights a month, to support her parents. This would give her parents regular breaks to look forward to, so they can recharge their batteries, knowing that Maisie is being well looked after.
The Shared Care Placement does not need to be in Carlisle, however, her parents do not drive so Maisie’s carers would need to be able to drive to Carlisle to pick Maisie up and drop her off.
Read more about Maisie and how to get in touch if you think you might be able to help.
Please note that this image, whilst representative, is a stock shot and her name has been changed to protect her identity.
With more than 700 children in care across Cumbria, we have an urgent need for more people to come forward as foster carers.
