Westmorland and Furness Council launched its search for 35 new apprentices this week, providing a fantastic opportunity for individuals to kickstart their careers in local government.
The apprenticeships span a wide range of roles, including Project Management, Highways and Engineering, Finance and Accountancy, Business Administration, Digital and Data, Health and Social Care, Catering and more – with opportunities from Level 2 to Level 6 (degree-level).
The application window is now open and will close at midnight on Sunday 16 March. Applications can be submitted online at careers.westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk/apprenticeships.
Many successful applicants go on to secure permanent roles with the council, building rewarding and long-term careers in local government.

The Windermere Ferry Crew are putting the finishing touches on our works programme which has delivered significant improvements to Mallard.
The key work completed during this period includes:
- Installation of a new engine
- Fitting of a refurbished gearbox on a new adjustable mount
- Refurbishment of the driveline and coupling, including alignment
- Installation of new deep water seals
- Improvements to the driveline and shear couplings.
The team are working throughout today (Friday 14 February) to complete the necessary work and get the drive wheels fitted and cables connected, with recommissioning and testing planned to start tomorrow (Saturday 15 February) morning at 6:00am.
