The Met Office issued a YELLOW weather warning for strong winds across Cumbria from yesterday through to Sunday. Parts of southern and western Cumbria are also expected to be under an AMBER warning this Saturday.
- Stay indoors as much as possible
- If you do go out, try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees. Trees and branches especially may be damaged during high winds
- Keep away from the sheltered side of boundary walls and fences - if these structures fall, they will collapse on this side
- Do not drive unless your journey is really necessary. If you do, take care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges or high open roads

The summit agenda included a series of guest speakers, panel discussions and facilitated breakout sessions. Both leaders from Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council spoke at the event.
Cllr Jonathan Brook, the Leader of Westmorland and Furness Council, said:
“Cumbria’s potential for economic growth is real and it is significant. Whether it’s in defence, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture or our visitor economy, across all economic sectors there is scope for us to do more, achieve more, and to grow together.”
