A Sense of Place
May is Local History Month, and our theme this year is “A Sense of Place”. National Geographic describes a sense of place as “the emotions someone attaches to an area based on their experiences.” What does Cumbria mean to you? What makes our area unique?
Here at Westmorland and Furness libraries we would like you to post your photos on the theme using the hashtag #WAFLocalHistoryMonth . We particularly welcome old photos that you feel sum up a particular place and time in our region. We’ll keep our eyes open for the hashtag and will create a Facebook gallery of the best, crediting you.
You must hold the rights for these photos, and you will retain rights if we repost your photo. This means that if you use a photo taken by a relative or somebody else, you need to ask their permission.
