Businesses in rural areas of Westmorland & Furness area still have time to express interest in a competitive grant scheme funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund.
It’s a capital grant scheme for the purchase of equipment and small scale capital improvements to help grow, diversify, innovate and improve productivity.
The minimum grant is £1,000, with an anticipated average of £15,000.
For farming and other land-based businesses there’s further support including:
- Advice vouchers of up to £500, which can be used with an adviser/business consultant of your choice
- Workshops to support growth and resilience and help you navigate the new subsidy regimes, delivered through The Farmer Network

Measles is very infectious and can spread rapidly among communities, such as schools, if people have not had at least one dose of the MMR vaccine.
Symptoms of measles include high fever, runny nose, cough, red and watery eyes, small red spots with a bluish-white centre inside the mouth. A rash can appear later, usually on the face, upper neck, hands and feet, fading after 5 to 6 days.
It's important to make sure your family's vaccination is up to date. The MMR vaccine is safe, effective and protects against this infection.
If you or any of your children have not had 2 doses of the MMR vaccine, please ask your GP surgery for a vaccination appointment. Anyone with symptoms is also being advised to stay at home and phone their GP or NHS 111 for advice.
