Transformational projects to improve Kendal town centre have been given a £13.5million cash boost.
The Heart of Kendal project, which includes town centre regeneration schemes and improvements to connectivity along the River Kent, has been provisionally awarded up to £13,476,700 through the third round of the government’s Levelling Up Fund.
This will build on existing investment already going into the town through the Stramongate Public Realm Improvement Scheme, the Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme and improvements to walking and cycling routes along the River Corridor.
An announcement in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement that Government is intending to offer £7m funding support towards a rural enterprise hub project near Penrith has been welcomed.
Cumbria’s Safeguarding Adults Board have been raising awareness of safeguarding this week as part of a week of national action co-ordinated by The Ann Craft Trust.
Residents of Westmorland and Furness are being encouraged to consider becoming “Shared Lives” carers after the council significantly increased their weekly allowance.
Active Cumbria’s ‘12 days of Christmas’ campaign focuses on gifts to help to improve the strength, skills, stamina, and suppleness of older loved ones.
Have your say – Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy
Organisations across Westmorland and Furness are developing a new Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This will describe how we will work together to improve health and wellbeing for our residents and communities.
We would like to hear about the things that impact on your health and wellbeing and the things that you need to help you stay healthy and well.
We have developed a short survey to gather this information and will present the findings to the Health and Wellbeing Board and other key partners to inform the strategy.
The survey will close on Tuesday 28 November 2023.
