People in Westmorland and Furness are being reminded to take part in this year’s annual canvass of electors and respond if needed, so that they can vote in future elections.
With police and crime commissioner elections taking place in Westmorland and Furness in May and parliamentary elections on the horizon, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part.
Read more about the annual canvass. Residents who have any questions can contact the Council’s Electoral Services Team by calling 0300 373 3300 or by email at elections3@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk.

Our Friendship Group started in January following an idea to link our Health and Wellbeing Team Drop in and Library Reading Group. 6 months later the group continues to be well attended with 30 new people coming along during that time.
Activities offered at the group include Quiz’s, Pebble Painting, Poetry writing, Flag making, Chess and Dominoes or people are welcome to have a chat and drink.
Most importantly, the group has helped participants from friendships and has increased their confidence in social situations in a welcoming and inclusive group with great feedback from those who attend.
Health and Wellbeing Team Drop in and Friendship group is every Thursday at Barrow Library between 2-4pm.

A new free development programme has launched to help people set up working for themselves offering care and support to older and disabled people locally.
You could offer any kind of help at home such as: cleaning, cooking, shopping, trips out, support to dress and wash, DIY, gardening and more.
The programme is coordinated by Community Catalysts in partnership with Westmorland and Furness Council; and supports people to make sure their care and support business is set up safely, legally and sustainably.
Leave your details at Community Catalysts' website and your local catalysts Jade and Hannah will be in touch for a chat to tell you more.
