A new “Family Hub” in Barrow will bring advice and support services for families under one roof the council has announced.
The Westmorland and Furness Family Hub, which will be co-delivered by the council and its partners using £500k of funding from the Department for Education (DfE), will make sure all families in the Westmorland and Furness Council area can access all the services, advice and support they need in one place – either in person or online.

An event to launch a new Dementia Friendly Communities Partnership for Eden was held in Penrith earlier this week.
The well-attended event offered dementia advice and support for residents and gave local businesses and services the opportunity to learn about the changes they can make to support customers living with Dementia.
The Eden Dementia Friendly Communities Partnership will raise awareness of dementia risk factors, prevention strategies, and early signs of dementia, as well as providing information on local support, services and activities for individuals affected by this condition, and their families and carers.
Thank you to everyone who came to the event and made it so special!

Westmorland and Furness Council are carrying out a consultation with the taxi trade and public to gather their views on a new taxi livery.
Taxi livery ensures that the travelling public can easily identify that the vehicle they're travelling in is licensed and to ensure they know who to contact should any issues occur.
It is also important that hackney carriages and private hire vehicles do not look like one another, as private hire vehicles are only able to accept bookings which are pre-booked through a private hire operator, and hackney carriages can be hailed in the street or ply for hire on a rank.
You can complete the survey online.
The survey will close at midnight on Thursday 10th August 2023.
