TOP STORY: £9.4 million funding to support communities and businesses

Projects aimed at supporting businesses and communities in Westmorland and Furness are set to be funded to the tune of £9.4 million.

Just over £7.3 million will be available from the UKSPF for the next two year, with £2.1 million from the REPF targeted at the former South Lakeland and Eden areas.

Following a successful workshop on Thursday 1 June, the project calls have been released and virtual workshops for potential applications will take place on Tuesday 13 June.

Deadline for applications is Friday 30 June. Applications will then be assessed in July and August, with final decisions made in September and project delivery from October.

Kirkstone Pass safety work closure reminder

Road users, residents and businesses are reminded that we'll be closing a stretch of the A592 Kirkstone Pass from Monday 5 June as part of major safety improvements. Weather permitting, a 6.8km stretch of this iconic Lake District road will be shut until Friday 30 June so that new safety crash barriers can be installed. Find out more details about this project

We remind residents that the public consultation on cycling, walking and wheeling routes in Barrow and Walney will close next Friday 9 June. New design for Barrow Skate Park!
