Try something new and join us for a free Creative Wellbeing Walk, led by local artist Simon Jardine at Shaw House, Newbury and in the village of Inkpen.
The walks are much like the current Wellbeing Walks which take place across West Berkshire but include short stops to paint, draw or photograph areas of interest. Walks end with free tea and coffee and an opportunity to chat.
You don’t need any experience of photography, painting or drawing to join in and art equipment is provided free of charge.
Walks are informal, relaxed and friendly. The creative walks are suitable for adults, but not families or children. To book your place email Nicola.Peacock2@westberks.gov.uk. Find out more on our website.
A new survey is asking for your views on active travel.
Active travel, is good for physical and mental wellbeing and better for the environment too. We want to support and encourage residents to choose active travel options – and are exploring the best way to do this.
A survey is being run to get your views on active travel. It’s aimed at residents aged 16 and over and only takes a few minutes to complete. It’s open to everyone, however active or inactive you may be at the moment. More than one person in a household can take the survey, but please answer just for yourself.
There’s an optional prize draw to win a £100 supermarket voucher if you submit a completed survey.
You can complete the survey online or email our Public Health and Wellbeing team if you have any questions.
Many of our secondary schools are taking part in an interactive educational theatre performance called ‘Risking it All’ which helps support the statutory Relationships, Sex & Health Education curriculum by discussing and raising awareness about issues such as drug and alcohol use, online safety and inappropriate relationships.
As part of the West Berkshire tour, there’s a special performance at the Arlington Arts Centre on 4 October at 7:30pm for parents. This offers a rare opportunity to see a unique performance and engage with your teenager on issues that could affect them.
Book your free tickets here.
Parents who cannot make the event can watch the performance online too here. The password to join is: 189780
