We were delighted to support the Vaccination Clinic at Hungerford Cricket Club throughout December. During this time, they delivered 7549 vaccinations. These included Boosters, initial and second vaccinations, and supported the 12 to 15 year old age group.
We want to thank everyone who enabled the pop-up clinic to take place, especially Hungerford Cricket Club, local businesses, all the volunteers, and the wider community. Without their support, the vaccinations could not have taken place.
We hope to share news on new clinics helping the vaccination uptake soon.
From January 11th, the guidance on what to do if you receive a positive lateral flow test has changed; these are the new guidelines;
→ You have no symptoms
→ Complete a positive lateral flow test
→ Report your result, and self-isolate for 10 days – it’s important to record your positive LFT so that NHS Test & Trace can contact you to identify close contacts.
You do not need to book a PCR test.
Some exceptions where you will still be asked to take a follow-up PCR test include if you:
- are eligible for the Test & Trace Support Payment (TTSP)
- are in a clinically vulnerable group who may need early access to treatment
- are participating in research or surveillance programmes
- get a positive day 2 lateral flow result after arrival in England
As previously announced, you can reduce the 10 days of self-isolation to 7 days if you complete negative LFD results on days 6 and 7, with the tests taken 24 hours apart. You must take the first test no earlier than day 6 of the self-isolation period.
Those who leave self-isolation on or after day 7 are strongly advised to limit close contact with other people in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces, work from home and minimise contact with anyone at higher risk of severe illness if infected with COVID- 19.
If you experience any symptoms of Covid-19, you will still need to book a PCR test immediately.
Demand for Lateral Flow Kits is still high, and if possible, it is recommended that you order online or visit your local pharmacy.
Our Assisted Testing Team will be at the Kennet Centre this week to support residents, give advice on how to complete your tests, and provide more general information on Vaccinations and Boosters.
With kits in such short supply, they are currently not giving out packs but providing assisted tests only. These are great if you are unsure how to complete the tests, plus they do your test and then give you the result in 30 minutes.
You can find them there;
- Wednesday to Friday - 8am to 12pm
- Saturday and Sunday - 10am to 4.30pm
If you are visiting your GP, hospital or vaccination centre or any healthcare setting, please take a Lateral Flow test if possible before attending.
Please book a PCR test at a testing centre or order a home testing kit if you feel unwell.
Have you got your Booster yet?
It's essential that everyone gets all their vaccinations if they are eligible. All the local walk-in sites offer all vaccinations to 12 years and up. It could be your first dose, through to your Booster.
You can find more information and the locations for walk-in centres here, and for bookable appointments, please follow this link..
Remember that you need to wait 28 days after having Covid-19 before receiving any of the vaccinations, including the Booster.
and finally,
We all need to stay safe, protect ourselves and the people around us. The best way to do that is:
- get fully vaccinated
- wear a mask in enclosed spaces and maintain social distancing
- ensure rooms are ventilated by opening windows and doors
- continue to regularly test, particularly before socialising in groups or visiting vulnerable people
- isolate and get a PCR test if you have symptoms or test positive on a lateral flow device test.
