We've been delighted to help support the NHS throughout the year. Over the past couple of weeks, we've been helping the vaccination team at Hungerford. Due to its popularity, they are opening between Christmas and the New Year;
- Monday 27th December 9.30am – 7pm
- Tuesday 28th December 9.30am – 12pm
- Wednesday 29th December 9.30am – 7pm
- Thursday 30th December 9.30am – 7pm
- Friday 31st December 9.30am – 6pm
You can get your Booster there, but you can start your vaccination journey there too;
12 to 17 years old - First and Second doses, the second dose is given 12 weeks after receiving the first dose. Boosters are not available for this age group unless clinically vulnerable.
18 years and above - First, Second and Booster doses, the second dose is given 8 weeks after receiving the first dose, with the Booster dose delivered 3 months following the second dose.
These are walk-in appointments only.
It has been quieter this week, with queues of less than 30 minutes, so please visit the Cricket Club, start your vaccination journey, or receive your Booster. If you'd like to know more about the site, please visit the NHS walk-in appointment site.
If you would like to volunteer at Hungerford, the West Berkshire CCG have an online form for you to complete, which you can find here - https://forms.gle/hAGDCKkZbjTj5fUd9
If you would like to know more about volunteering at other sites and using your skills to help others, please visit the Royal Voluntary Service website

This week has seen changes made to the rules for people who are self-isolating, you can find out more on the NHS site here
It is recommended that those who leave self-isolation on or after day 7, are advised to limit close contact with other people in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces, work from home and minimise contact with anyone who is at higher risk of severe illness if infected with COVID- 19.

Over the festive period, you need to stay safe and keep testing to protect yourself, your friends and family and the wider community.
The demand for Lateral Flow Kits is still high, and it is recommended that you order online or visit your local pharmacy if possible.
However, our Mobile Assisted Testing Team will be at the Kennet Centre again next week, 29 to 31 December, to support residents, advise on how to complete your tests, and provide more general information on Vaccinations and Boosters.
You can find them there;
-
Wednesday 29 December: 9.30am to 4pm.
-
Thursday 30 December: 9.30am to 4pm.
-
Friday 31 December: 9.30am to 2pm.
They can offer test kits to residents who have not been able to order test kits online or collect from a pharmacy.
Priority will be given to those households where someone has been advised to test daily via test and trace as a close contact.
They will also be at the following locations next week;
-
Wednesday 29 December - Hungerford Cricket Club: 9.30am to 3.30pm.
-
Thursday 30 December - Sainsburys Calcot: 9.30am to 3.30pm.
-
Friday 31 December - Tesco Extra, Newbury: 9.30am to 2pm.
If you are visiting your GP, hospital or vaccination centre or any healthcare setting, please take a Lateral Flow test if possible before attending.
Please book a PCR test at a testing centre or order a home testing kit if you feel unwell.
and finally,
we all need to stay safe, protect ourselves and the people around us, and the best way to do that is:
- get fully vaccinated
- wear a mask in enclosed spaces and maintain social distancing
- ensure rooms are ventilated by opening windows and doors
- continue to regularly test, particularly before socialising in groups or visiting vulnerable people
- isolate and get a PCR test if you have symptoms or test positive on a lateral flow device test.
