Covid jab for 16 & 17 year olds at Northcroft Leisure Centre

1-4 September, 10am - 7pm

16 and 17 year olds are invited to attend the NHS vaccine clinic to get their jab (Pfizer) Wednesday, 1 September to Saturday, 4 September at Northcroft Leisure Centre, Newbury, 10 am - 7 pm. 

The attendees can either drop in or we recommend booking an appointment beforehand. Face coverings need to be worn (unless exempt).

Covid jab for 16+ years at Falkland Cricket Club

5 September, 11am - 5pm

COVID-19 vaccinations and lateral flow self-test kits (rapid COVID-19 home tests) will be offered at the Falkland Cricket Club for people aged 16 and over. This will be alongside the One Community Cricket and Family Fun Day taking place on the grounds at Enborne Street, Newbury, West Berkshire, RG14 6TW.

You can get your first or second dose for the Pfizer vaccine from the NHS Health on the Move team. If you are going for your second dose, your first dose must have been a Pfizer jab and administered at least eight weeks before.

When you pick up your free self-test kits from the Community Testing van, you can also be shown how to take the test by one of the trained team members.

Other ways to get your jab

16 - 17 year olds can attend walk-in clinics at Broad Street Mall in Reading every day 9.30am – 7.00pm. No appointment is necessary.

If you are 18 and over, or within 3 months of your 18th birthday, to get your vaccine you can book online or find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site.

if you cannot book online, you can call 119 free of charge. You can speak to a translator if you need to.

Get tested for COVID-19 twice a week, free of charge

It's still vitally important to keep testing for COVID-19 if you don't have symptoms as you could be unknowingly transmitting the virus, even if you've been vaccinated. 

There are plenty of ways to get self-test kits so that you can keep testing - especially before you visit with others or enter crowded places. 

Please report positive, negative and void results as instructed in the test kits.

Community testing sites to close after 31 August

Please note that the last day of operation for the Thatcham Memorial Hall site and the Hungerford Library and Newbury Library sites will be on Tuesday, 31 August. 

The Wednesday pop up site in Newbury in front of the Globe and the weekday Mobile Community Collect will continue operation. 

COVID-19: local cases data

West Berkshire has had 10,002 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far. Over the
the period 13 to 19 August there were 489 new cases of COVID-19.

The weekly rate as of 19 August was 308.6 per 100,000 population, which is 34%
higher than the previous week and 30% higher than the week before that.

West Berkshire’s rate for people aged 60 and over has decreased to 65.9 per
100,000 population over the last week.

Weekly case rates as of August show the highest rates in people aged 15 to 19 (1339 per 100k) and 20 to 24 (764 per 100k).

With cases still occurring, it's important to get fully vaccinated if eligible, and to keep testing to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

The One Community Cricket and Family Fun Day is fast approaching. There will be plenty of fun through sports, music, food, and children's activities on Sunday, 5 September from 11am till 5pm, at Wilson Carlisle Cricket Ground, Falkland Cricket Club, Newbury. 

Free to enter, the event is hosted by Community United West Berkshire and supported by Berkshire Cricket Foundation.
