Yesterday (15 June), the Prime Minister announced a four-week delay of Step 4 until 19 July, though the data will be reviewed after 2 weeks in case the risks have reduced. The government will continue to monitor the data and the move to Step 4 will be confirmed one week in advance.
The delay was put in place due to concerns caused by the Delta variant and to allow for more people to receive their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
However, from 21 June, more than 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions, and commemorative events including wakes. The number of people able to attend such events will be determined by the number that can be safely accommodated in the venue with social distancing in place.
From 21 June, there will also be changes to the rules on large events pilots, care home visits, and domestic residential visits for children.
Read changes and the latest guidance.

Anyone aged 23 or over, or who will reach that age before 1 July 2021, can now book their Covid-19 vaccine appointment. Thank you to everyone who has already taken up this opportunity.
Second doses for all over-40s will also be accelerated, reducing the time between doses from 12 weeks to eight weeks.
Appointment slots for first and second doses are available at all vaccination sites. If you can't find a local slot straight away, keep trying as more appointments are added regularly.
The Government’s aim is that all adults aged over 18 will have been offered their first dose, and around two thirds of all adults will have had both vaccine doses by 19 July.
