To All West Berkshire Libraries Customers
Here is the April news from West Berkshire Libraries, including details about the services we are currently able to provide in line with government rules on managing the risk of COVID-19.
Libraries will be allowed to reopen for visits when Step 2 of the Government's Covid Roadmap to Recovery goes live - currently planned for Monday 12 April.
We’re pleased to confirm that Step 2 of the Government’s roadmap for lifting the current lockdown restrictions will allow you to visit West Berkshire libraries in person again.
Although the date for this is subject to a final Government review, we hope that Step 2 will be implemented on Monday 12 April as planned. We can’t wait to welcome you back into libraries!
However, in order to meet current guidelines and keep everyone safe, we will need to limit the number of people within each building and not all of our usual services will be immediately available.
Please watch our video to hear Library Manager Felicity Harrison explain more about what you can expect to find when you next visit.
You can find details of our current library opening hours, including our Mobile Library timetable, on our website: www.westberks.gov.uk/libraries.
Please remember to bring your library membership card with you when you visit as you will need it to borrow books or DVDs and to use our computers. You will also need to know your 4-digit library PIN. If you have forgotten this or need a new one, you can reset your PIN online.
With this anticipated reopening, our fines amnesty will come to an end on 12 April. You can find details of our current charges on our website.
More good news for library members – the West Berkshire Libraries app is now available from both Google Play Store (for Android devices) and the Apple App Store.
Our new app allows you to renew your loans, search for and reserve books, read and listen to e-books, access other e-resources, manage multiple accounts for family members and more – all from your mobile or tablet.
It’s so easy to use. Download the app and enjoy all of these services from your app today!
Please note, if have an iPhone you will need to be running iOS on an iPhone 7 or above to get the full functionality.
Our Friday online storytime sessions and weekend children’s crafts are continuing throughout April and we have a new Rhymetime session from Berkshire Maestros which will be available on our YouTube channel from Wednesday 28 April.
Don’t forget that you can read details about all our forthcoming events, find links to these activities and other news by following @WBerksLibraries on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
All of our libraries will be closed on the Bank Holidays (Good Friday and Easter Monday) and open - for book collections only - on Saturday 3 April.
As always, our e-resources continue to be available FREE to West Berkshire library members, 24/7.
