With Covid-19 in circulation it is now more important than ever that eligible groups are vaccinated in order to protect them from flu.
Dr Abid Irfan, Chair of the Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Flu is an extremely contagious virus which can make people very ill, particularly those in the high risk groups. These patients have been prioritised to receive their flu vaccines and social distancing is in place to help keep everyone safe.
“Given the Covid-19 pandemic pressures it’s vital we all do everything we can to support the NHS by keeping ourselves protected and well.”
The vaccine is FREE to a range of people. If you’re eligible you may be asked to wait for the vaccine due to high demand. Please check with your GP/Pharmacy to find out when you can expect to book an appointment.
It's important to go to your appointment unless you or someone you live with has symptoms of coronavirus.
In addition, the School Aged Immunisation Team has been running clinics in local schools to deliver flu vaccinations to around 50,000 pupils across Berkshire West. We would like to encourage parents to make sure they sign their child’s consent form.

We need your help on how we can communicate key COVID-19 messages across West Berkshire in an engaging and motivating way.
Our Insights survey has been designed to understand people’s views and attitudes towards Covid-19, national guidance and existing communications.
We are offering a chance to win a £50 shopping voucher as a thank you for taking part.
Please follow this link to complete the survey in full. There’s a link on the page for people to use if they want help with translation.
Please circulate this link as widely as possible – anything you can do to drive a wide range of responses to this important work will be very much appreciated.
This survey is being carried out by Social Change UK, an independent research company. All of the answers will be stored securely and kept confidential.
The Government announced a new package of measures to support children and families over the winter with food and bills. Local authorities in England including West Berkshire are being provided with funds to ensure that vulnerable households do not go hungry or without essential items during this critical time. We will keep you informed on how we will arrange for eligible groups to get the support and assistance that they need.
We’re wishing a Happy Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas to residents celebrating over the weekend.
We know that this year's celebrations will be very different, but it is important that we are following the national rules to control the spread of the virus.
Please participate in the festivities safely from your home, with the people you live with, and avoid mixing households.
See additional information on how to celebrate safely.
