We're working hard to continue delivering services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and to support our residents - and in particular those who most need our help.
On our website you will find information about where to find support as well as details of any changes we've had to make to services.

This week we published our Local Outbreak Control Plan setting out how we aim to prevent and control any local outbreaks of COVID-19.
This is a very important part of the next stage of the response to COVID-19 recognising that the virus will be with us until a vaccine and or better treatment is available
The Plan details the roles and responsibilities of prevention and management of COVID-19.
As part of the Plan, we’re urging residents to keep up to date with local news by following our social media channels and signing up to this newsletter. If you’re able to share this newsletter and encourage your friends and family to sign up to it, this will help to keep people safe in the event of a local outbreak.
Residents can also play a key part by self-isolating and booking a COVID-19 test if they are suffering symptoms.
Watch a video of what happens at a regional drive in test site such as the one at Newbury Showground.
See a summary of the plans, further information and FAQ’s.
The number of Covid-19 cases in West Berkshire stands at 471, according to new data.

We've announced plans for restoring the library service to the public and staff are working hard on a phased reopening to keep everyone safe.
Our services and spaces are important to our entire community and we can’t wait to reopen our doors. The first stage, from 13 July will be to re-open Newbury, Hungerford and Thatcham Libraries for book collections during limited opening hours. We hope to open our other libraries on the same basis the following week.

As part of our Covid-19 recovery strategy, due to come to the Council’s Executive on the 16 July, we’ll be looking at actions to assist the environmental economic recovery.
One of these, is the launch of a Community Municipal Investment; an opportunity for our residents to invest in schemes with the council to deliver our Environmental Strategy, for example installing Solar Panels on Council-owned buildings. This would provide a cheaper form of borrowing for the Council and a financial return to those who invest while helping us to ‘build back greener’.

We've approved a further £20,000 from our Covid-19 Government grant to ensure that disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils are able to access the technology they need for home education.

Even if you mean well and leave items outside charity shops, or next to full recycling bins, this is still fly tipping.
Help charity shops by carefully considering what you donate and get in touch with them before you drop off any donations.
If you're unable to donate straight away at the shop or local bank, please hold on to your things at home until you can.
