We're working hard to continue delivering services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and to support our residents - and in particular those who most need our help.
On our website you will find information about where to find support as well as details of any changes we've had to make to services.
You can also keep in touch with us online, and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We have all experienced significant changes to our daily lives during lockdown, with the closures of businesses, schools and workplaces. Some will have also suffered the loss of a loved one to Covid-19, which will have made this time even more difficult.
We have launched a residents’ survey to gain insight into the impact of Covid-19 and would like your views on the local social, economic and environmental impact you have experienced.
The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and your feedback will be used to shape the West Berkshire Recovery Strategy, which is being developed to outline how the district recovers from the current situation. We intend to repeat the survey at regular intervals in the next year to ensure that any changes our residents are feeling are considered.
Take part in the survey.
From 1 to 7 June, volunteers across the district will be receiving a huge shout out from us as we celebrate and say ‘thank you’ for their contribution and dedication to keep everything going within their communities all year round, but especially during these difficult times.
We’ve created a dedicated local heroes page on our website that highlights some of the great work that has already taken place across West Berkshire but we are always looking for more. Do you know a person or organisation that has gone above and beyond the call of duty for your community? If so, let us know more by emailing: pr@westberks.gov.uk with your message, a photo and your contact details.
Stay tuned to our social media channels next week and see if you can spot a local hero! Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Schools across the district will be opening up to more pupils from Monday 1 June.
We understand parents across the district have many questions on what this recent announcement means for them and their children going back to school. We want to assure parents that our Education team are continually working closely with the Head teachers and staff members in schools who have already been doing an amazing job supporting children of critical workers and vulnerable children since 23 March.
All schools have been in touch with parents throughout this time but for anyone who needs more information, please have a read through some FAQs on our website to provide some assistance.
Our 'Click and Tip' bookings have been a hit with more than 10,000 visits to our recycling centres since it was introduced earlier this month! We want to thank everyone who has visited for playing their part in following social distancing guidance and for being patient with our staff.
There are still plenty of appointments available over the coming weeks but bookings are compulsory in order to use the recycling centres. To book your place visit www.westberks.gov.uk/clickandtip.

From each ticket sold, 50p goes to a good cause chosen by the player and another 10p goes into a community fund. You can win prizes ranging from free plays up to a top prize of £25,000.
