Understanding EHC Needs Assessments and Plans
Parents and carers are invited to join our free webinar 'Understanding EHC Needs Assessments and Plans' taking place on Wednesday 5 November at 10:00am.
Gain information on the EHCP process, what happens during an EHC needs assessment and what a good EHCP should contain; from requesting a needs assessment to reviewing an existing EHCP. There will also be an opportunity to ask your questions following the session.

Support surgeries for secondary school applications
The deadline to complete applications for places for students who are due to start Year 7 in September 2026 is 31 October 2025.
Anyone who needs support is invited to attend one of the School Application Surgeries being held at the Civic Centre, St Peter's Square, Wolverhampton, WV1 1SH, from 10am-2pm on Thursdays 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th October.

Please note that this is for mainstream school admission. All pupils with an EHCP will have their secondary school allocated via their SENSTART officer.
Consultation on proposed SEND resource base at
Stowheath Primary School
The City of Wolverhampton Council has launched a public consultation on plans to establish a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Resource Base at Stow Heath Primary School.
It would see the creation of a 20-place Resource Base focused on Communication and Interaction, designed to support children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The facility is planned to open in September 2027 and will be integrated into the primary school, which is in the process of being modernised as part of wider rebuilding work by the Department of Education.

Wolverhampton Outreach Service: Parent & Carer training events
An informative session to help parents and carers understand cultural masking. The workshop provides an overview of cultural masking, exploring how individuals may consciously or unconsciously hide aspects of their identity to avoid negative judgement and attention. Parents will learn to recognise the signs of masking, understand its emotional and developmental impact, and gain practical strategies to support their children. This is also an opportunity to meet other parents and to swap advice and support each other.
For families of children/young people with a diagnosis of ADHD and those currently undergoing assessment. This workshop will help to develop your understanding of ADHD and gives the opportunity to talk to other parents and carers.
For parents and carers of children who already have a diagnosis of Autism and those who are currently on the diagnostic pathway. The workshop will give you the opportunity to meet other parents and carers and to swap advice and support. Gain an understanding of Autism and cover topics such as sensory differences, communication and interaction. Gain practical strategies you can implement at home to support your child.
This event is open to families of children and young people with any special educational needs or disability and those who are currently undergoing assessment. An opportunity to talk to other parents and carers and also various professionals from services across Wolverhampton.

Autism West Midlands: Rising to the challenge- six week learning programme
Join Autism West Midlands from 7 October for their free virtual six week training programme discussing topics which can affect a child with autism; including communication, interaction, sensory needs and behaviours.
The Rising to the Challenge series are one hour webinars available to parents, carers or professionals, followed by an optional virtual teams discussion with the opportunity to reflect and ask question.

'Autism and Me' programme for children aged 8- 12 years
Autism West Midlands offers it's free programme to children aged 8- 12 years with a diagnosis of Autism. The 3 evenings, face to face small group sessions offers your child the opportunity to learn more about their condition, meet other children with similar experiences and gain supportive strategies that can help in their day- to day life.

Yo! Wolves term- time activities
Throughout the school term, Yo! Wolves continues to deliver activities around the city to keep children and young people entertained and engaged in community sports.
Activities include dance classes, skate park, cricket, football, multi- sports, youth gym, mixed martial arts fitness, basketball, netball and nerf sessions.
