SEND Solutions Surgery
IASS is pleased to announce in partnership with Base 25 we will be delivering our SEND Solutions surgery on the last Thursday every month.

Makaton Level 1 training opportunity for parents and carers
Dates: Thursday Mornings of 10th and 17th October Location: Brickkiln Community Centre, Cherry Street Wolverhampton, WV3 0QW
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.
Level 1 training provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme.
IASS is offering parents and carers the opportunity to complete a free Level 1 workshop. This will be delivered over two mornings (totalling 6 hours) and will require you to attend both sessions in order to gain your certificate and participant manual.

Help for school uniform
Wolverhampton City Credit Union has teamed up with the Council to help families save for school uniforms, with a boost to their Child Savers Account.
Child members who open an account with WCCU, will have their savings matched pound for pound to a maximum of £75 by the council to purchase a school uniform. The scheme will help start children on their financial journey and encourage regular savings.

BSL training opportunity
This course is aimed at those who have little or no knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL) and are working with or in contact with D/deaf children on a day-to-day basis or just want to build their knowledge and awareness.
It is a 15-week course which takes place every term time every Thursday with two session times – 1:00 to 2:00pm or 4:30-5:30pm. Each session should be attended as there is a lot to cover and each week is different.

Autism Confident Programme
From 1st September, Autism West Midlands offers its 'Autism Confident' programme. An opportunity to learn more about autism in a small, supportive group, share experiences and identify strategies that could help in your day-to-day life.
The online programme includes six group sessions and two 1:1 meetings with the group leader and discusses topics including social communication, sensory awareness, self esteem and self image, transitions and many more.

Digital Festival Summer 2024
Family Fund's Digital Festival is a creative and friendly online space where children can learn new skills and socialise during summer holidays, from the comfort of their home.
Their workshops are free and range from learning how to create fun animations, to making a vlog and mastering the power of coding.
This year, more of their workshops are multi-platform, meaning that children can join sessions from a device most suitable to them, such as Android tablet, iPad or PC, and families can book on as many sessions as they like.

The Witherslack Group offers its SEN Summer Club; a support pack with resources and exciting virtual workshops for children and young people to enjoy such as cooking, science, art and much more.
The resource pack offers top tips for the holiday period, SEND friendly days out and managing routines.

Breathing Space Therapeutic Services: Friends with Feathers and Fur
Friends with Feathers and Fur is an animal assisted therapy programme. They support children and young people with SEND, mental health difficulties and young carers to develop their self confidence and regulation skills through group and 1:1 sessions with the assistance of their therapy animals and highly trained staff team.
