The Manufacturing Support Services team, based out of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), was created to support the UK’s SME manufacturers to address and overcome their engineering challenges to accelerate performance and improve efficiencies.
To help businesses in the early stages of their transformation, Manufacturing Support Services offers free initial consultations and the first step is a line walk of your facility with no obligation to commit to any work.
A senior member of the team will visit your facility and conduct a tour of your business operations to obtain an initial understanding of the challenges faced, before providing guidance on the best route forward.
The MTC brings skills and experience from across a range of technologies and, provided they can agree on a business case, the priorities and an appropriate work programme, they will share with you a proposal outlining how the MTC could support the implementation process. For qualifying SMEs, they will also discuss with you the Innovate UK REACH funding that is available to support the cost of your project. For further information please click here

The annual Tell ABAB Survey 2024 is now available to complete. Commissioned by an independent body, the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board (ABAB), the survey provides crucial insight on the big issues faced by small businesses (including those who identify as tax agents) in the tax system. ABAB challenges HMRC on its performance, providing robust scrutiny against key initiatives, such as Making Tax Digital and Improving Customer Experience. The survey is an opportunity for small and micro businesses, and sole traders to provide insight on the tax system. The survey takes 10 minutes to complete, and it will be open until 30th April 2024. Results from the survey will be published on GOV.UK in September 2024 in the Tell ABAB Report. If you have any questions about the 2024 survey, please email advisoryboard.adminburden@hmrc.gov.uk.
