Bulletin Summary
Restorative Practice is a strengths-based model in working with children and families, a relational and solution focused approach which encourages high aspirations and high expectations to achieve good outcomes for children.
Restorative Practice means strengthening relationships as well as strengthening social connections within communities. In Wolverhampton, we are committed to restorative core beliefs and principles, embedding restorative practice as a fundamental part of our work with children and families.
Restorative practices range from formal to informal processes that enable workers, managers, children, young people and their families to communicate effectively.
The processes used, focus on removing barriers, and proactively promoting a sense of community, understanding, social responsibility and shared accountability.
The training takes place over three days at the Civic Centre in Wolverhampton, You must be able attend all three days.

An online session, focusing on raising awareness around abuse to women and girls. It will support you to understand it's prevalence in the UK and how these crimes affect victims.

A powerful and thought-provoking 90-minute training session that gives participants an insight into the real experiences of those affected by child exploitation. It will help participants to spot signs of grooming and understand how they can help to protect and support children and young people.
Our experienced and skilled trainer in the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership shares their knowledge of the issues whilst providing a fresh way for professionals to empathise with those affected by child exploitation and importantly learn skills and knowledge that will help them in their roles.

This course offers something for those who are new to ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) as a concept and those with some existing prior knowledge. It is aimed at both those who work with children and young people and those who work regularly with adults.

The two-hour Public Health Approach to Violence Prevention and Reduction Webinar aims to introduce learners to the public health approach and to increase awareness of the role everyone in society can play in violence prevention and reduction. The course will cover: principles of the public health approach; an understanding of the causes and consequences of violence; addressing underlying risk factors that make violence more likely; primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention; and the importance of evaluation and evidence.

Trauma Informed Practice is aimed at people who already have a basic knowledge of childhood adversity (ACEs) and trauma, who may have also completed the Introduction to Childhood Adversity and Trauma Informed Practice module (as above). In this course we develop the theoretical ideas further and give participants ways to apply their learning to practice and to begin working in a Trauma-Informed way.
