Print-on-demand leader and Latvian ‘unicorn’ business Printful has officially opened its first UK fulfilment centre in Wolverhampton to help scale up production and improve services in the largest European ecommerce market.
Printful boasts ten in-house fulfilment centres and 1,800+ employees across the globe. The state-of-the-art 90,000 sq ft facility (located three miles north of Wolverhampton city centre), which was officially opened on Wednesday (March 23), marks the company’s first expansion into the UK and is set to create an estimated 50 jobs during its first year of operation.

Lovell and Wolves at Work deliver opportunities for young people

A new Wolverhampton housing development has led to construction apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
Lovell has recently completed the build of 151 two, three and four-bedroom homes at Saints Quarter, off Steelhouse Lane.
During construction, with support from the Wolves at Work employment programme and other partners, it has recruited and supported seven apprentices from Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich and Tipton, Halesowen and Stourbridge, to achieve or make progress towards a Level 2 in Carpentry or Bricklaying.

Council approve in principle option of Compulsory Purchase Order

City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet has approved in principle the option to use compulsory purchase order (CPO) powers to address the poor condition of the former Victorian Eye Infirmary site and facilitate its redevelopment.
The Council recognises the importance of this iconic site on an important gateway into the city centre on Compton Road in Chapel Ash.
The Council is keen for the site to be brought back into use to provide new housing opportunities, enable the restoration of locally listed heritage assets, act as a catalyst for further regeneration activity, enhance the Oaks Conservation Area, and resolve long standing issues of anti-social behaviour, dilapidation and blight on the surrounding area.

Vision and aims set out for digital development in the city

A new Digital Wolverhampton Strategy has been approved by the Council's Cabinet.
The strategy has been informed by engagement with key stakeholders and consultation with residents and businesses.
It sets out the vision and aims for digital development in Wolverhampton and will act as a framework to update the city’s current Digital Infrastructure Strategy.

Eyesore former Rookery Tavern to pave way for potential new homes

Work has started to demolish an eyesore former Lanesfield pub to pave the way for potential new homes.
The Rookery Tavern site on Wood Street has been subject to arson attacks, vandalism and fly-tipping since the pub closed almost seven years ago.
The current owner, Mohammed Adeel, took over the site in October 2021 and has moved quickly to start demolition after working closely with the council to ensure he meets the necessary building regulations.
A planning application has also been submitted by the owner to build 24 apartments, with dedicated parking, on the site.

Oxley scheme allows for a mix of 34 housing units across the site
City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet has approved plans to create a modern health & wellbeing facility and new homes on the site of the former Oxley Day Training Centre.
A feasibility study for the scheme on the vacant, Council-owned Probert Road site has been undertaken with a view to an outline planning application being submitted later this year, following further talks with stakeholders and public consultation with the local community.
