- DfE update
Dear Colleagues,
We have been reviewing the attendance figures for schools with the DfE and I would encourage you to complete the daily return to give a more realistic picture of what is happening in the city. Last week only 39.7% of our schools submitted the data whereas six other West Midlands authorities had over 50% of their schools sending in their figures. The WM average is 48%, so we are near the bottom in terms of compliance.
To complete the daily ESFA Educational Settings Status form (not to include nursery schools or nursery classes) please follow this link ESFA Fast Form (fasst.org.uk) . Thank you.
I look forward to seeing you at the Director’s briefing and the School Improvement day on Thursday.
Best wishes,
Phil

Attendance in education and early years settings during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
The DfE started this data collection last year as part of the early response to the pandemic. The data you have provided has been central to informing the government COVID response on Early Years.
The DfE are requesting attendance data for the week beginning 8 November and this must be reported on Thursday 11 November. We are asking for your attendance figure for Tuesday 9 November, how many children you were expecting and how many children actually attended.
Method of collection as follows:
-
Nursery schools and Schools with a nursery class please reply to the email sent to you from the research and assessment team
-
Private nursery settings please complete the survey Click here to access the survey.
-
Childminders can you please email or text your attendance figure to your Quality and Access Officer
It is really important that we have an accurate picture of the number of children attending early years provision across the city, thank you again for your continued support with this.

Early Years Funding for Private Nursery settings and Childminders Only
Autumn 2021
Can all private nursery settings and childminders please submit their Autumn 2021 actuals in the usual way by Thursday 11 November 2021 for all 2, 3 & 4 year old funded children ONLY (existing & new starters).
Providers need to ensure ALL children’s attendance is amended to reflect the start and end date for all 2, 3 & 4 year old children.
Providers will still need to validate ALL 30 Hour codes in the usual way and continue to communicate with parents to ensure codes do not enter grace periods.
Please remove from the provider portal those children for whose funding entitlements have ended.

If you cannot access your perspective lite account or do not have an active account, please contact the Research & Assessment team for assistance on research.assessment@wolverhampton.gov.uk

City schools awarded #YES Anti Bullying Charter Status
Schools are being encouraged to get involved and say one kind word this year’s Anti-Bullying Week, which begins on Monday 15 November.
Organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the 2021 campaign has a theme of “One Kind Word”, with the belief that kindness is more important today than it has ever been, with the isolation during the coronavirus pandemic underlining how small acts of consideration can break down barriers and brighten the lives of people around us.
The week will also offer the opportunity to recognise schools in the city which have achieved Anti-Bullying Charter Status.

Public Health Data Profiles for Schools 2021
Primary and secondary schools will have received in their school inbox their Public Health Data Profile, which is bespoke their school. We would particularly encourage schools to use the Data Profiles to inform their PSHE planning and whole school approaches to health and wellbeing and as part of their work with the School Nurse team. They may also provide evidence for Ofsted inspections in relation to school responses to personal development.
The profiles have been produced for mainstream primary and secondary schools to reflect the health needs in their local community. Special schools and PRUs are welcome to contact me directly to discuss which Public Health indicators may be most relevant to their setting.
Attached is the introductory letter that has accompanied the send out of your school’s Data Profile.
