Wolverhampton development is first in Black Country to earn this status

i9 Feb

City of Wolverhampton Council’s new i9 development is the first office building in the Black Country to be awarded WiredScore Gold certification in recognition of its digital connectivity and infrastructure.

The certification aligns with the Council’s digital infrastructure strategy, which is producing significant investment in full fibre broadband, 5G and smart technologies.

Interchange

City of Wolverhampton Council and West Midlands Railway have secured grant funding for the construction of a new cycle hub offering more than 100 spaces for cycles at Wolverhampton Interchange.

It will be located next to the railway station multi-storey car park, near the pedestrian footbridge to the city centre – and forms part of the city’s award-winning £150million Interchange development delivering improvements to bus, tram, train and cycle connectivity.

Final design work on the hub will now begin and pre-fabrication will be carried out off-site before on-site works start in June and are completed by autumn.

Planning application submitted for Beatties

Owner proposing 300 homes and ground floor commercial use

Beatties 3

SSYS Beatties Limited has submitted a planning application to remodel the former Beatties store and car park in Wolverhampton city centre.

Images show the proposal will retain the store frontage and maintain commercial use on the ground floor of the current building and also create over 300 high quality homes, aimed at new homeowners and renters.

The plan is to convert the upper floors at the rear of the old Beatties store to create space for new apartments adding some additional residential floors on the existing building (as pictured above), while retaining and restoring the historic building frontage.

SSYS Beatties Limited plan to keep the existing shop frontage and to build sensitively around it.
