Changing Our Lives

Making Personal Health Budgets family friendly

Are you thinking about a Personal Health Budget?

"Personal health budgets (PHBs) are ways for people to have more choice and control over their health care. They provide the opportunity for people to have more choice and control over the money spent on meeting their health and wellbeing needs.

The NHS in the Black Country has asked Changing Our Lives to work with young people with the label of SEND and their families to map out their journey as they go through the current PHB process. The project aims to understand and learn from the experiences of young people with the label of SEND, identify what works and what doesn’t work, and what needs to be put in place to improve the process to ensure a positive experience and successful outcomes.

We are looking for families who are about to go through the PHB process who would like to be part of this project. If you would like to take part, we will meet with you, remotely of course, at several points during your journey to find out about your experiences during the PHB process. These meetings will be around an hour and will be arranged at a time to suit you."

If you would like to take part please contact: Jackie Taylor

Legal duty on schools in England to provide remote learning

Last month the Government announced a legal duty on schools in England to provide remote learning to pupils who are at home because of Covid-19. Schools are now expected to offer pupils not in class because they are self-isolating, or because their school is closed because of local or national restrictions the same lessons as those in class.
