local lockdown

Latest on coronavirus

As we gradually reopen the city, including our leisure and hospitality industry, it is vital that we all stay alert. Avoiding a local lockdown and keeping our local rates of cases low depends on all of us doing our part and continuing to follow the Government's social distancing guidelines. The council has provided guidance to hundreds of city hospitality premises. If premises do not have social distancing measures in place, please do not enter or put yourself at risk. For the latest guidance please visit Reopen Wolves.

Got symptoms? Book a test

The mobile Covid-19 testing unit will move to Aldersley Leisure Village next week. Anyone of any age should be tested if they have symptoms such as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste. Testing is most effective within 1 to 3 days of symptoms developing and should be carried out in the first 5 days. All appointments must be booked in advance.

For more information, and to apply for a test, please go to NHS or call 119. Read more...

Masks compulsory for city taxi passengers

Passengers travelling in a taxi licensed by City of Wolverhampton Council must now wear a protective face covering unless they have a medical condition which prevents it.

The new policy comes into force with immediate effect to protect drivers and passengers from spreading Covid-19. Drivers have been advised to wear masks at all times when carrying passengers and can refuse to pick up any passenger who is not wearing a face covering. Read more...
