Businesses are urged to get applications in quickly, from Monday

money

City of Wolverhampton Council will launch a new grant scheme at noon on Monday
June 1st, to provide financial support for ‘micro’ businesses and certain other small firms which have been impacted by coronavirus, but have not been eligible for other Government help. Application details and full eligibility criteria of the Discretionary Grant Fund will be published here. Firms are encouraged to get their applications in quickly because demand is expected to exceed the available funding. The council will operate the scheme on a first-come, first-served basis until the fund is exhausted.

Phase 1 of new railway station now open

With social distancing measures in place for essential users

Railway Station

Wolverhampton has waited a long time to get its new railway station - and we're delighted that Phase 1 of the project is now open. You can view the photos here.

The Government has asked people to travel by walking, cycling or car during the coronavirus outbreak and only to use trains and other pubic transport if essential. For people where train travel is essential, a one-way system has been marked out at the station to help people keep to the social distancing measures. Customers that do need to travel are encouraged to buy their tickets online in advance if possible.

Phase 2 of the scheme will see the demolition of the remainder of the old station building and completion of the new build to house three more retail units, as well as a customer waiting room and help point.
