Welcome to this latest issue of our tourism e-newsletter for Wrexham County. Although we're still not in a position to open up our tourism economy just yet, there has been plenty of hopeful news this last week to suggest that we could start to welcome you back to Wales later this year. For now though, please continue to exercise from home (without driving) and enjoy the walks in your local area.

World Heritage Site News...
We’re gearing up to re-launch our new World Heritage website this Spring. Over the last few weeks, Llandegla based Eastwood Media have been out capturing some incredible new winter images along the 11-mile stretch of the canal corridor for us. This image on the left shows a stunning view of the Dee Valley during the Beast from the East earlier this month. For more great images - follow the instagram account @pontcysyllte

Explore Wrexham Museum...from home!
The museum may be closed for the time being but you can be reassured that the team are still busy working behind the scenes ready for when we can welcome you back safely.
In the meantime don’t forget to check out the online resources on our website - including a virtual tour of the building, an online photography exhibition, latest news on the recent Roman discoveries near Rossett, and a guide to our oldest 'team member' - Brymbo Man himself!

As we know, like for many, it’s been an incredibly tough time for our tourism & hospitality industry this last year. Our tourism and business support teams have been working alongside This Is Wrexham tourism partnership to offer guidance and support for those working in this sector. This week, they met with Lesley Griffiths MS to discuss Welsh Government’s recovery plan for tourism - as we all hope to welcome you back to our glorious corner of Wales later this year when it’s safe to do so.

The Hand at Llanarmon is an ancient hostelry in Wrexham County with all the attributes you’d expect – bags of character, a cosy, relaxing ambience and a warm welcome from your hosts, Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex. As soon as you arrive you feel the weight of the world dissolving as the surroundings work their magic. All the classic ingredients are here – old beams, roaring fireplaces, a casual mix-and-match of pine and oak furniture, real ale and good food. The latter is seriously good thanks to the talents of Head Chef Grant Mulholland and his team.
As well as retaining a place in the prestigious Michelin food guide for 2021, during this last year - the team at the Hand have worked tirelessly to support the Ceiriog Valley community with takeaway meals, supplies and positive messaging. Need a place to escape for a staycation later this year? Check out their website here.
