Lunch Time events at the Carnival
For the first time this year, the Wrexham Carnival of Words literary festival is hosting a sequence of special lunchtime events, so why not take a break from your busy day and join them for a literary lunch break! The line-up includes Gail Young, who gives us a taste of the inspiration for her hugely successful stage productions on Monday 29th April. Tuesday 30th April sees Alison Layland taking the stage to chat to Caroline Oakley, editor at Honno Press about her books Someone Else’s Conflict and Rainbow. Debbie Young joins the festival on Thursday 2nd May to talk about the joys of writing ‘cosy mysteries’ and the role of humour in crime writing. Friday 3rd of May sees two shows with a local setting; the first will be Martine Bailey author of Erddig-inspired An Appetite for Violets, as she unveils her new historical murder mystery, The Almanack. This is followed at 2.30pm by local author David Ebsworth talking about the background to his latest novel, The Doubtful Diaries of Wicked Mistress Yale, telling the true story of Elihu Yale through the eyes of his much-maligned and almost entirely forgotten wife, Catherine. All of these events (apart from the last one) start at 1pm and take place at Wrexham Library. Tickets are available from Wrexham Library or online at www.wrexham.gov.uk/pay.
