Rocket team just miss out on Nationals by a tiny crack.
A team of students from Ysgol Clywedog just missed out on qualifying for nationals. One of 4 teams from Wales, they designed and built a rocket to safely deliver a payload of 2 raw eggs, 243 meters up for at least 42 seconds. Unfortunately, although the height and time was sufficient to qualify, a tiny crack in one of the eggs meant the team fell outside of the top 20.
The CAD (computer aided design) built rocket is powered by gunpowder and the team of year 7 to year 11 must complete the challenge unaided.
Thanks goes to Ian Lucas MP and the teams local sponsors; Magellan, Aircovers and Solvay for their support for the project.
Well done to all involved and we look forward to the 2019 challenge.

 Parent governors wanted
School governors are volunteers who help to run the school. Most schools work with a group of school governors - together they’re called the 'governing body'. They’re involved in decisions about all aspects of managing the school – such as running buildings and budgets, supporting staff and setting standards of school discipline.
Governors also help to make big decisions about the school’s long-term goals. They support headteachers, but also ask questions and make sure the headteacher is taking the school in the right direction.
We are currently looking to appoint parent governors to our governing body. If you are interested or would like further information, please contact the school reception.
