Dear Colleague,

I feel like we blinked back in January and now, here we are in August, it certainly feels as though the year has flown by. I know in my own role as Leader, it has certainly been a very busy seven months, but when I look at what the Council has achieved, it all feels worth it and I’m certain you all feel that too.

The pace of work in the last few months has been nothing short of incredible, with the Citizens’ Assembly, a new local plan and housing strategy, the corporate peer challenge, two elections, our Childrens Services Ofsted inspection to name a few. We have a very talented and committed team of officers in our Council who work diligently to deliver our priorities.

Thank you all for the incredible hard work you put in every day to support the borough and improve the lives for our residents, it doesn’t go unnoticed, and I always feel such a sense of pride hearing how officers across the entirety of the council continue to rise to the challenge and how you so positively adapt to change.

The support, kindness and camaraderie shared with me about officers, is a testament to how you work with one another, as teams and peers, as well as your work with partners and most importantly our residents.

Although we know there will be lots of hard work ahead over the final four months of the year, there is also so much to look forward to on our journey to achieving Mission Waltham Forest and I know I speak for all Cabinet members when I say you are who we want to drive it forward with.

With the summer holidays now in full swing I hope you all manage to enjoy some rest and time with family and friends over the summer period.

Thank you all.

Grace
