Thank you

Staff from across the Council taking part in Mission Workshops

Over the last eight weeks we have held more than ten Mission Workshops across the Council with nearly 400 staff taking part. A huge thank you to those that were able to attend and join in the conversations.

Great things have been happening through these workshops of which many of you have been a part of. They have given staff an opportunity to get involved in shaping Mission Waltham Forest to help deliver on our ambitions.

Staff are at the heart of Mission Waltham Forest and these workshops provided the chance to learn about our mission-based approach, a new way of working together to identify our challenges and breaking them down into ambitious and clear goals for our borough.

This approach means the missions are here to stay and will have a continuous focus on equality as well as shared responsibility to tackle the challenges we face, and what’s more, everyone has a part to play!

So far, we have received some very interesting feedback and challenges which will help to improve our services. They are being reviewed and we will share the outcomes as well as the way forward in the coming weeks.

You have told us that....

Early Help colleagues at the Mission Workshop at Chingford Family Hub

You have told us that:

  • We need to stay committed to Mission Waltham Forest
You really want us to make sure that the Missions are not going to change but are here to stay.

  • You want to stay involved
Mission Waltham Forest focuses on issues that you really care about, and you want to make sure your views and thoughts are taken into account and you get involved in the decisions that are made.

  • You want to connect better with your colleagues
Networking is not only about sharing information with your colleagues.  The Mission Workshops also served as an avenue to build and create relationships with other services and departments across the Council enabling you to work together towards our plans for a more equal borough.

  • You want to know how we have responded to your feedback
Feedback from our staff is very important to us and you want regular updates on how we have responded to your feedback.

All service specific feedback from the workshops has been fed back to the relevant Senior Leadership Team members who will look at the best way to work with their directorates to action these.

Our Mission is Waltham Forest

Staff at Council events focused on staff

Everyone has a role in developing and shaping how Mission Waltham Forest will be delivered. Your opinion, ideas and feedback are valued, and we want to continue to engage with you every step of the way.

We want to dive a little deeper into how you want to shape the next phase of Mission Waltham Forest, we heard some great suggestions and want to ensure everyone has a chance to have a say and we would like to hear from you on what you want this to look like.

Below are a few of the ideas we heard from staff at the workshops, but we do welcome any additional suggestions:

Mission Staff Fair

This Fair will give you an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the Council.  There will be interactive stalls where staff can find out more information about the missions in a more interactive, visual and social way.

You can choose from one of the sessions held during the day, come along to speak to staff working on the missions – a great way to share skills and expertise.

Mission themed workshops

These workshops will focus on a specific mission, for example, the housing crisis, climate change or Council finances.

This will be a perfect opportunity to connect and speak with colleagues with a shared interests from different services on a mission that connects with you the most, and work together on solutions and ideas to help achieve this mission.
