I am delighted to announce the appointment of Linzi Roberts-Egan as our new Chief Executive following last week's (Thursday 25 May) Full Council meeting.

Linzi will be starting on 31 July, having most recently served as Chief Executive of Islington Council, where she brings with her a very impressive track record, and a wealth of experience in championing work to tackle inequality with the goal of creating a more equal society that will serve the organisation, our staff, and our residents well.

After 13 years, Martin will stand down as Chief Executive on 28 July. Martin has been instrumental in our incredible successes during this time – transforming not just the Council, but also the borough. I feel very fortunate to have worked with Martin and I wish him all the very best for his retirement. 

But I know Linzi is coming to Waltham Forest armed with experience, drive and a passion to succeed. She is someone who knows our borough well having previously worked here as Deputy Chief Executive and has a strong commitment to our borough.

Linzi said:“I’m really excited about re-joining the team at Waltham Forest and returning to a borough where I had so many happy years - it really is somewhere close to my heart. This is a borough with strong foundations and it’s a great privilege to have the chance to lead such a dedicated staffing team who I know are rightly ambitious for Waltham Forest.

“It is of course also a time of economic uncertainty for many at the moment, with challenges around poverty, inequality and climate change and I’m looking forward to getting started to help tackle these issues, working closely with elected members, colleagues, partners and communities.”

I'm very much looking forward to working with Linzi to help improve the lives of people across the borough and I know you will join me in welcoming her back to Waltham Forest.
