Monday 20 February 2023

Taking annual leave is important for your health and wellbeing, and we encourage all staff to continue to take their leave before the end of the leave year, 31 March 2023.

However, we understand that for some staff this has not been possible, which is why we have agreed to the carrying over of up to ten days (pro rata for our part timers). The additional carry over must be used by the end of September 2023.

Next year we revert to our policy where only five days can be carried over with approval from your line manager, so please do ensure any request are made in good time - remember you can also request to buy additional leave until Friday 10 March.

On Wednesday (22 February) I will join the Leader Cllr Grace Williams, Cllr Elizabeth Baptiste and guests including the High Commissioner to celebrate Saint Lucia's forty fourth Independence Day.  I would like to send my best wishes to the people of Saint Lucia and anyone celebrating.

For those of you who may have been away for half term, you will notice that Fellowship Square is looking very different, and the number of parking spaces has now reduced significantly as part of the Fellowship Square redevelopment. Remember to pre-book a space on site or in overflow parking at the Feelgood Centre or Walthamstow Football Club, this can be done up to three days in advance. Please do have a think about how we travel to and from work and around the borough and see if there's a greener way for you to get to the Town Hall.

Don’t forget to join the Leader and I at this week’s all staff meeting on Thursday (23 February), we’ll be joined by People directorate colleagues - Jane Brueseke, presenting on the youth hubs pilot and Catherine Hutchinson along with Denise Atkinson speaking about the approach Public Health has taken to wellbeing and engagement.

The invite should be in your calendar, hope to see you there!

Have a good week.
