Tuesday 23 August 2022, Issue #20
Welcome to Your News. This week, please ensure your Declaration of Interests is up to date, book your ticket for Culture Fest, and stay up to date on the latest building works at Fellowship Square - plus much more!
Notice for managers: Managers have until 5pm today to complete the Internal Audit Stakeholder Survey. Please ensure you fill it in; your feedback is important to help us improve our internal audit service.
To prevent any fraudulent activity, all Council employees at SO1 and above (including agency staff) must register their interests using the Declaration of Interests form.
The purpose of the declaration form is not to prevent involvement with outside organisations but to check compliance with our Code of Conduct, prevent any conflict of interests and ensure there is no reason anyone could suspect any employee of using their job with the Council for improper gain or advantage.
What you need to declare:
- Any roles in other organisations including employment, consultancy, board membership, company director, partnerships, shareholdings or charity trusteeships.
- Any property which you rent, lease or sell to or from within the borough.
When you first joined the Council you will have completed the declaration form - however if your interests have changed you need to speak to your line manager and update the form via Hornbill at the link below.
This Saturday (27 August), from 11am-7pm, the staff Race Equality Network (REN) will host Culture Fest at Fellowship Square, a celebration of our diverse communities and cultures within Waltham Forest.
The event is open to everybody, whether staff, resident or just visiting, and will feature incredible performances from Uzambezi Dance Troupe, Rina Entertainer and more. There will be much to learn from local historian Amy Miller, Tai Chi on offer with Dao Lu, story telling from Jane Ulysses Grell, an artisan market and a karaoke and lip sync challenge!
Entry is completely free but please book your place at the link below.

The following signs (as shown on the right) have been placed on some desks throughout the Town Hall. These desks have been specially reserved and/or adjusted for those with particular needs. Please be aware of which desks in your neighbourhood are reserved as priority desks, and do not move or adjust the desk, chair, or equipment.
Please also ensure that the sign remains placed on the desk for those who are visiting the neighbourhood and may not be as familiar with the seating arrangements. If you or a member of your team requires a priority desk, please approach the Fellowship Square Team.

Pedestrian and wheelchair access
As part of Fellowship Square Phase II, Countryside are undertaking utilities works outside of their current site boundary.
This involves some temporary changes to disabled parking and pedestrian/wheelchair access to the Town Hall and Fellowship Square.
A temporary pedestrian path from Farnan Avenue into Fellowship Square has been installed on the south elevation of the Magistrates to separate pedestrians from vehicle traffic.
Blue Badge parking bays to the north of the Magistrates will be temporarily relocated to the east to undertake utility works from tomorrow (Wednesday 24 August) until Friday 2 September. Blue Badge parking will be maintained at all times close to the Town Hall during these works. The Blue Badge Bays will relocate to their original location from Monday 5 September.
The new pedestrian footpath will open from 24th August.
Utility works
Utility works commenced on Thursday 18 August and are expected to last for approximately eight weeks. No impact is expected to BAU operations and mitigation measures are in place should there be any power or connectivity downtime on site at Fellowship Square or for remote workers. However managers are advised to have Business Continuity Plans (BCP) on standby should there be any significant outage.
