Tuesday 28 June, Issue #12
Welcome to Your News. This week we remind you to use pronouns in your email signature, get started on Be Proudly You training, and find out about our exclusive staff-only event at the Althea McNish exhibit - plus much more!
![Leroy Logan](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKWALTHAM_INTERNAL/2022/04/5769123/ll-pic-2_original.png) Following April's powerful Tea and Talk with founding member of the Black Police Association Dr Leroy Logan MBE, we will be hosting an in person follow-up event on Thursday 7 July, 1-2pm in the Foyer of Fellowship Square, where staff can personally ask questions and enjoy the opportunity to celebrate a leading figure in British culture.
Hosted by the Race Equality Network, all staff are welcome to join. No need to sign up, just make a note in your calendar and come along on the day.
As part of our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion we are reminding staff to use their pronouns in their email signature.
Using our pronouns in our email signatures lets everyone know that we don’t make assumptions about gender. It creates a more equal, safe space so everyone can feel that they belong and bring their whole self to work and be respected for it. Some examples of how to indicate your pronouns are:
-
John Smith (He/Him)
-
Jane Smith (She/Her)
-
Joe Smith (They/Them)
We will also soon be providing pronoun badges for staff to wear if they choose. Find out more from Stonewall about how to use pronouns at the link below.

If you haven't yet begun Be Proudly You diversity and inclusion training, please set some time aside to get started.
We are asking all staff to complete the training - at present more than colleagues have made a start but it's important that we all participate in order to create a truly inclusive workplace where everyone feels able to bring their whole self to work.
Once you start the training, you have six weeks to complete it so you can work at your own pace.
How to access the Diversity and Inclusion training course
If you have any questions please contact people@walthamforest.gov.uk

The Café on Fellowship Square serves a delicious range of food and snacks. All Council staff and contractors can enjoy 20 per cent off lunchtime meal deals (including a cold sandwich, crisps and a cold drink) when they show an ID pass. It's also still 50 per cent off any pastry until the end of June when you quote the code 'Square2'.
And don't forget to claim your coffee loyalty card and get it stamped - your ninth drink will be on us.
If you enjoy your experience please rate and review us on Google so others can find us too.

On Monday 4 July, we invite staff to join us at the William Morris Gallery in celebration of the Althea McNish exhibition. Situated a short walk from Fellowship Square, The William Morris Gallery will be specially open for staff only between 12-1pm.
Althea was the first woman of Caribbean descent to receive international recognition for her textile designs. As well as having the opportunity to experience first-hand Althea’s amazing work, a reflective narrative will be provided by the gallery's principal curator, Rowan Bains, Co-Chair of The REN, Pauline Campbell and EDI Lead Joy Hume.
We hope to see you there for an altogether unique Tea and Talk.
