Join me at our spectacular light show this weekend
As Bonfire Night approaches, I can't wait for our brilliant light show spectacular, which is happening in Fellowship Square from Friday 3 November until Sunday 5 November. It's going to be a really special event for all the family, with performers in the Square, a bar and street food, as well as the light show, projected onto our beautiful Town Hall. Two of the performances are sold out but there's still time to get tickets for the remaining four. Even better news is that the weather is improving! Buy your tickets here.
This week, I visited the Hornbeam café near Bakers Arms to meet some of the brilliant volunteers there. It's one of our amazing community partners, who have been providing support throughout the cost of living crisis as one of our Community Living Rooms.
Time and again, I talk to residents, still feeling the impact of last year's record-breaking fuel bills, who are really worried about how they will be able to afford to heat their homes this winter. With temperatures falling, many admit they're putting off turning the heating on as long as possible to save money.
We want to help everyone lower their energy bills this winter, and have launched a brand-new lower bills calculator, and a range of information on the support and services you could be eligible for, to help save money and keep your home warm.
All Waltham Forest residents can now get support, depending on your circumstances, from tips and advice in using less gas and electricity, to free energy saving measures to apply at home. Try our Lower Bills Calculator and check out the energy information on our website.
This is just part of the help available for people in Waltham Forest this winter. Watch the video below and find out more about cost of living support.

We would like to thank our vast network of community partners for making this year’s celebrations the very best ever.
Last summer, we asked residents, businesses and community groups for suggestions on how we could improve some of the spaces in and around Markhouse Corner.
We’ve been using your responses to help inform final design proposals, which we are now ready to share. Come to a drop-in event about the project at Lea Bridge Library on Thursday 9 November, from 4pm to 7pm.
Stopping smoking for 28 days can make it easier for you to quit for good, so it's always a good time to start, even if you missed this year’s Stoptober campaign. If you need some help reaching your goals, our friends at Quit Right Waltham Forest can offer free and confidential support.
As soon as you stop smoking, you'll find out that good things happen straight away. Check out what our service user Martin discovered when he quit. Watch the video on Instagram
