Best Start in Life has arrived!

BSIL

Last week we held our Best Start in Life launches at our four Children and Family Centre Hubs. It was fantastic to see so many parents, carers and children come along to enjoy the activities and learn more about the hubs and the support on offer. Families also got to meet our Superheroes too!

If you couldn't get to one of the launches and haven't yet registered at your local hub - why not visit and meet the friendly team? You can also watch our video from the Leyton launch with Cllr Alistair Strathern, Lead Member for Children and Young People.

With our new timetable in place from now until December, your local hub is definitely worth a visit.

New polio booster vaccination clinics are open for families to book their child’s polio booster vaccine.

The booster vaccine is available for children aged one to nine to protect them against the spread of polio.

The polio virus has been detected in sewage in several London boroughs including Waltham Forest.

Contact your GP to book your child’s vaccination or attend a clinic.

Family Support

Parent and child on a bed; the parent is pointing at a laptop as they speak to the child

Children and Family Centres provide family support for Waltham Forest parents and carers with children aged 0-4 around managing behaviour and routines including sleep support for over 1’s.

We aim to help you to find your own solutions.

The one to one tailored support is short term and goal focused and our Family Support Workers provide this either in our play sessions or over the phone and on occasion, within the home.

If you would like support around your child’s development our Early Years Family Practitioners can provide this within our play sessions.

How do our recycling and waste collections work for your family?

Recycling survey

We want to improve our recycling and waste collections and want to hear from you.

We're looking to hear from as many residents as possible about their experiences with our collections, along with any barriers to recycling. Whether your family find it easy to recycle, or you struggle to know what to recycle and put where - we want to hear from you.

Share your experiences and recommendations for improvement. Whether you live in a house or flat, rent or own, all opinions are welcome.

Speech and language support

NELFT Logo

The Speech and Language Therapy team have now merged with the NELFT NHS team to provide a new Preschool service for children aged 0-5 in the borough.

The Therapists will still be working in the Children and Family Centre's to provide early support and information about young children’s communication development.

If you have any concerns about your child’s communication and language skills, speak to a member of the Health Visiting team or a Children and Family Centre Practitioner to find out how to get support.

Email the team below or call 0208 430 7070.
